The computer objects in the Active Directory represent the computers that are members of the domain.

They are created automatically when the workstation joins the domain and placed in the Computers container, with the exception of domain controllers which are placed in the Domain Controllers OU.
Computer objects can be moved within an OU.
Computer accounts can be members of groups.
Computer accounts support authentication delegation so they can act as a service. This feature is used with Hyper-V to allow virtual machines to be moved between two hosts.
Some computer accounts are virtual and are not directly linked to a computer like accounts for Windows clusters.
Joining a computer’s domain is covered in another lesson.
