Summary
Introduction
TTL (Time To Live) is the time to keep the server’s DNS response in the client cache before a new request is made.
By default the TTL is:
- 1 hour for static recordings.
- 20 minutes for dynamic recordings.
In the case of a website migration, it may be necessary to lower the TTL for clients receiving the IP of the new server faster. Once the migration is complete, think about setting the default TTL or higher, the smaller the value, the more the clients make the resolution requests.
Change the TTL
By default the properties of the recording do not allow to modify the TTL.
From the DNS Manager console, click View 1 and then Detailed View 2 .
It is now possible to change the TTL of the DNS records.
